ECO 5000

ECO-5000 is a unique chemical treatment specially formulated to improve the durability of reinforced concrete structures exposed to harsh conditions. This additive is added to the concrete mix at the time of batching to provide a range of features and benefits.

Features and Benefits

ECO-5000 is a powder additive composed of Portland cement and active proprietary chemicals. These chemicals react with the moisture in fresh concrete and the by- products of cement hydration to catalyze a reaction that generates a non-soluble crystalline formation throughout the concrete. This formation prevents penetration of harmful substances into the concrete and significantly reduces water permeability, making it highly resistant to environmental factors such as marine environments, acid and sulphate attacks, and chloride penetration. Experimental investigations conducted in different countries have demonstrated that ECO-5000 enhances the durability of concrete exposed to aggressive environmental conditions. ECO-5000 is cost-efficient, non-toxic, allows concrete to breathe and is self- healing, with the ability to repair static hairline cracks up to 0.5 mm. This additive is added to the concrete at the time of batching, making it flexible in construction scheduling and not subject to climatic restraints.

Note that while adding ECO-5000 products in powder form on site is not typically recommended, there may be situations where it is necessary. In these cases, it is recommended to add ECO-5000 in slurry form to the truck (e.g., 3 parts powder to 2 parts water by volume) to ensure proper dispersal. The concrete should then be mixed on high speed for at least 5 minutes or until it is thoroughly dispersed.

Water required for the ECO-5000 should be accounted for in the mix design. It is important to note that the use of ECO-5000 does not eliminate the need for proper design of crack control, construction joint detailing, proper placement, consolidation, and curing of the concrete.

Packaging Info

ECO 5000 is available in 15 kg and 20 kg buckets. For large projects, customized packaging is available to meet specific needs.

Storage: ECO 5000 products should be stored in a dry environment with a minimum temperature of 15°C. Under these proper conditions, the shelf life of the product is one year.

Dosage Rates: For optimal results, the dosage rate of ECO 5000 is recommended to be between 0.2% to 0.8% by weight of cementitious content. Please consult with ECO 5000’s Technical Services Department or your local ECO 5000 Technical Services Representative for assistance in
determining the appropriate dosage rate for your specific project requirements, including enhanced chemical resistance and meeting the specific conditions of your project.
